Panasonic’s KX-TG4000B 4 Line, Multi-Cordless Handset
The perfect phone system? Is there
such an animal in existence today? Not really but we’ve managed to
find a real good solution for the small business or home office.
Generally speaking, our product
reviews come directly from trying to satisfy an internal need. Since
we started Dog River Design, we’ve wanted to have a better phone
system. I really like having a cordless phone to wander whilst I
talk, but I like the features found in most “key system” type phone
systems, i.e. voice mail. Add to the list of wants, multiple lines,
and you really only have one solution and that is the expensive
phone systems found in most offices. Just for example, Dog River
Business Solutions was quoted nearly $18,000 for a multiple line,
10
station phone system with voice mail. OUCH!
So here is my Wish List:
Multi Line
Voice Mail
EASY TO USE!
Cordless Handsets
Inexpensive
We decided to try Panasonic’s
KX-TG4000B 4 Line, Multi-Cordless Handset, Auto Answer, Auto
Attendant, phone system. Retail price at Panasonic was $699.95. We
found it on-line for $374.00.* It comes with the base unit and one
handset, expandable with up to 8 handsets total. The base unit is a
fully functional extension, ideally used by the operator or
receptionist for the business.
This system has all the necessary
features we want plus Auto Attendant. My favorite part of the system
is the fact that all the extensions are 2.4GHz cordless, which means
we did not have to wire ANYTHING. We just plugged it in and used it.
Each handset is considered a separate extension complete with its
own voice mail. The entire system is very easy to use and setup. The
prompts are clear and basically walk you through the setup step by
step. If your business needs a very flexible and robust 4 line
system and you will never need more than 8 extensions, than this is
the way to go.
* Just a note: Staples has a
policy to match ANY price. We took the print out of the price we got
on-line and our local Staples matched the price without any
problems. They also matched the price on the additional handsets
saving us about $150 off their in-store prices.
