During our recent visit to Myrtle Beach Rick and I purchased the Canon EOS Digital Rebel SLR Camera. We had been looking at this camera for a few months and waiting for it to drop in price before we purchased it and we finally found one that fit our budget at Sears (www.sears.com) - they will price match any known supplier and give you 10% off.

I had the pleasure of testing a clients Canon EOS Digital Rebel camera a few months prior to our purchasing one and I was convinced it was the camera for us! I took some photo’s and was amazed at the awesome quality of the pictures when comparing them to others taken with our old Olympus C700 digital camera.

I do not have any professional photography training and am not hip to the jargon/terminology of mega pixels, digital vs optical zoom etc, so this could have been a hard sell! However I am passionate about photography and have a desire to learn more and I found this camera an absolute pleasure to photograph with. You don’t need a book like “Camera’s for dummies” with this camera, it is really simple, although if you wish to get everything you can out of this camera and utilize every function, you will need to read the manual.

I realize it’s an expensive camera (see links at below for purchase prices), however if you have time to do some research you can find it for as little as $897.78 (with a mail-in $100 rebate) at www.walmart.com (online only) or price match, as we did, at Sears.

In my family I was the youngest one to have a camera and I think my dad may have had buyers remorse when he noticed how many rolls of film I went through in the space of a weekend. Hence this is a great camera because not only is it an SLR (Single Lens Reflex) camera, but it is also a digital camera which means you can delete the photos you do not like and only keep the best ones. (Every image is a great one so you end up keeping them all.)
